Our Story
RAAHI LIVING
Raahi Living is an Amsterdam-based brand specialising in hand-block printed clothing and homeware, shipping across the Netherlands, UK, Europe and the rest of the world.
Raahi means traveller in Hindi. Each and every piece in our collection has been inspired by travels to India. Raahi Living is a seasonless, slow fashion and lifestyle brand that honours Indian block and hand printing. All of our products are designed in Amsterdam, Netherlands and ethically made in small batches by local artisans in India.
Celebrating Hand Block Printing
At Raahi Living, block printing is at the heart of everything we do. Designed in Amsterdam and brought to life in Jaipur and Sanganer, our pieces celebrate a centuries-old craft through a modern, European lens.
From our Amsterdam studio, we work closely with artisans in India who specialise in traditional hand block printing — a meticulous process where each motif is carved, stamped, and printed by hand. The result is fabric that carries the beauty of imperfection, rhythm, and human touch.
As an Amsterdam-based block print brand, we see our role as a bridge between cultures: honouring the heritage of Indian block printing while designing for contemporary living in the Netherlands, Europe and the rest of the world. Our collections are shaped by Dutch light, seasonal dressing, and the desire for pieces that feel both timeless and lived-in.
Every Raahi Living print tells a story — of hands at work, of slow processes guided by nature, and of a craft that continues to evolve from India to Amsterdam and beyond.
Partnering with Artisans and Fair Trade
Raahi Living is shaped by close, long-term relationships with artisans in Jaipur, India, where hand block printing is deeply rooted in everyday life. From our base in Amsterdam, we collaborate directly with these workshops, building partnerships grounded in trust, respect, and shared values.
We are committed to fair wages, ethical working practices, and supportive working environments, allowing skilled artisans to sustain their craft with dignity. By working at a considered pace and valuing traditional techniques, we help support livelihoods that can be passed down through generations.
Each Raahi Living piece reflects this connection — thoughtfully designed in Europe and carefully crafted in India, with people at the centre of every step.
Sustainable Consciousness
Raahi Living collections are created in small batches, allowing us to remain closely connected to each stage of the process. Designed in Amsterdam and produced in Jaipur, our pieces are crafted using locally sourced materials and traditional techniques that respect both people and place.
Every design is made with versatility and longevity in mind — intended to move easily through seasons and settings, whether worn or used at home. By producing thoughtfully and avoiding excess, we focus on a slower, more sustainable approach that values quality over quantity.
OUR FOUNDER
Meet Anika Varma Pannu, the founder of Raahi Living — a brand shaped by a lifetime of cultural exchange and creative curiosity. Born and raised in Glasgow, UK, with deep roots in India, Anika’s early years were defined by a balance of Scottish upbringing and summers spent with family in India, where her connection to craft and heritage quietly took shape.
The idea for Raahi Living was sparked during time spent in Jaipur, where Anika immersed herself in the world of textiles and hand block printing, drawing inspiration from her family’s long-standing ties to the design and textile industry. What began as a serendipitous encounter evolved into a brand that had, in many ways, been a lifetime in the making.
Having lived in New York City, San Francisco, and now Amsterdam, Anika’s worldview has been shaped by movement, contrast, and travel. These experiences continue to inform her creative vision — one that blends colour, pattern, and storytelling across cultures and continents. From an early age, she expressed this through sketching, collecting found objects, and filling scrapbooks with visual ideas and textures.
Today, from her base in Amsterdam, Anika shares this vision through Raahi Living — inviting you to embrace your inner raahi (traveller) and discover pieces that carry stories from India to Europe and beyond.
